Do americans really think Canadians have bad teeth because they think we have no fluoride in the water?

I was watched the real houswives of orange county and Miss ontario south is dating shane over the internet and the dad was like are u sure she is canadian she has nice teeth,,, and the daughter was like why do you say that,,,, because they have no fluoride in the water....... OK first Canadians DO have it in the water, and we have free health care so we get dental care alot easier then some might think.... i might be judging as a whole... but do americans really think what i am saying ?

Ok, this is the main beef I have with Canadians, they tend to believe just about anything on TV. And NO, we don't think Canadians have bad teeth, any more than we think Americans have bad teeth (there are people who have good and bad teeth everywhere...even England) So, that being said, I suppose I should also tell you that Americans don't even on average think that Canadians are stupid either. It's a nasty rumor designed to pit one country against the other...when in reality, we are brother countries, and both are admired very much throughout the world! Why do you think they are trying to break up our excellent countries from a wonderful economic synergy? Think about it, seriously. TV isn't called the boob tube for nothing!

Reply:Oh god please dont judge us based on the plastic bleached out excuses for women on those shows. They probably think Canada is in Europe. I have lived near the border my whole life and I never heard anyone say anything about the teeth of Canadians - those women are just stupid.

I have got the igloo comments, (although I live in Vancouver BC Canada, which is mild and comparable to Hawaii in temps) seldom snows... I got all the husky and sled and moose comments , and the toque jokes...and I have never YET heard anything about our teeth??? Our health care is dang near free in most Provinces and our dental plans on extended dental are great! Some Provinces will pay up to a certain amount per year for dental services. Our teeth are pretty white around here LOLOL....

Reply:The stereotype for bad teeth has been more for the British than Canadians. I've never heard it used for the latter until now.





My apologies to my friends across the pond and up north -- I try not to think in terms of stereotypes, I'm just stating what I see as the general belief amongst my fellow Americans.
