I worked in a dental office as dental assistant before I entered Dental school. I had few accidents with women who were lesbians. First time one of my patients(Caucasian) told my doctor that she doesn't feel comfortable with male assistant and she didn't want me to stay next to her, Second time one of our patients(African-American) told me that she doesn't like men and doesn't understand them because they are crazy..I asked her, why did she think that way. She answered me that I am weird beacuse I asked her that question.
The dentist who I worked with is gay, too. He was surprised about these women.
Both of these women are lesbians. They told my co-worker who is woman.
Afterwards, I changed my opinion about gay people( to not posistive). I started to think that maybe the problem is not onlly with straight people, but gays too. Isn't that hate and discrimination?
Try to prove that i am wrong or agree with me.
Thank you.
Is it true that lesbians hate straight men?
Your experiences indicate that you have met two rude and/or narrow-minded people, nothing more. To extrapolate that to encompass all lesbians is quite a stretch.
Reply:No, My best friends are a couple (lesbians), and have many straight, guy friends.
Generalizing from two people is almost always gonna give you screwy conclusions.
The only straight guys I've seen a tendency for Lesbians to dislike is transmen (Transsexuals who transitioned from women to men), and I've also seen a tendency for Gay guys to dislike transwomen (ts who's transitioned man -%26gt; woman).
Reply:i dont think so
Reply:ummmm no! they have no reason just to hate straight men! im not a lez but y should they.......... btw i like straight men!
lol KIZZ
Reply:No, that isn't a fact, only a statement.
Reply:no im a lesbian and i dont hate straight guys i just hate when straight guys try and hit on me whenever they know im a lesbian
Reply:I would not say ALL. There are many who are man haters. Who can blame them though. They just don't have a need for us. Even when they try to get pregnant, they get a gay man to donate for them.
Reply:My best friend is a black lesbian and she has more straight male friends than female friends, actually, I'm her only female friend.
I don't know why those two women behaved as they did. Although I do find it odd that they just out and told some strange woman (your co-worker) that they were lesbians. My friend usually doesn't go around blasting that.
I guess there are jerks to every group of people. It doesn't reflect the entire group of people.
Reply:My guy works with a lesbian and he said she is just like one of the guys.
Not all lesbian's are man-haters, the same way not all gay men are women-haters, the same way not all straight men and women aren't homophobes.
Your experience hasn't been positive thus far but, just keep an opened mind because, everybody's different.
Reply:I work in a male dominated field. The lesbians that work with us actually seem to treat the straight men more respectfully as a group than do the straight women.
There will always be people of hate in the world. The fact that they are lesbians hating straight men is nothing spectacular. Hate usually is more a reflection of how someone feels about themselves.
I wouldn't judge homosexuals based on these two people. I think homosexuality is wrong and I think hate is wrong. But, we are all people and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
Reply:I would say lesbo's don't like men period that is why they turned to another female for their needs and wants.
Reply:I'm sure that there are some lesbians that hate straight men. But there are also straight women who hate straight men. It just depends on the individual's personality and experiences and everything.
The first patient you mentioned didn't say she hated straight men, she said that she didn't feel comfortable around a male assistant. Maybe she had a bad experience with a male assistant in the past (maybe he made fun of her sexual orientation, maybe he hurt her while cleaning her teeth, etc.), or with a male in general in the past (maybe she was robbed or raped or attacked).
The second woman you mentioned said that men are crazy, and that's why she didn't like them. I know a lot of people who would say things like that ("Men are crazy. I don't understand them."), but also a lot of people who say those things about women ("Women are crazy. I don't understand them.") It seems like she was just making a little joke that you didn't get.
It is absolutely wrong to say that all lesbians hate men.
You shouldn't have a bad opinion about gay people based on a couple bad experiences. I've never had a bad experience with a gay person. Maybe you're doing something to make them upset or mad.
Reply:I had to do security at a gay bar because their was a lot of what they call gay bashing any i met a couple of bisexual women both were drop dead gorgeous and we had are selves one hell of a three some so no it's not true that they hate straight men.
Reply:I don't think so. Maybe they're not comfortable with men touching them in the mouth. Lots of lesbians can say they like men and are friends with men. I have a cousin who is a lesbian and her girlfriend is bisexual and has kids but she don't like one of her girlfriend's babydaddies but gets along with the other and my cousin heard him say he still loves her girl.

Is it true that lesbians hate straight men?
I'm a lesbian and I don't hate men, but I do hate the men who treat women wrong. Now maybe they hate men because of their past like if they was raped or stalker somethings on that line. There is always a reason for a lesbian to dislike people to a certain existent. Now think if you had a friend who was straight and they was raped they wouldn't feel the same again with a man they would have a lot of trouble trusting sometimes she might even say she hated them for what they did. So you shouldn't change your mind about Lesbians and Gays everyone has a reason for disliking people.
Alright I'm not trying to be rude I'm just saying not every lesbian hates men. If you read my stuff right I'm saying some lesbians who say they "Hate men" probably is something to deal with their past. Like I said rape or other things will do that to you. Give me a thumbs down I really don't care, but that is normally why some Lesbians hate men. And like I said I'll say again I'll admit I dislike the ones who treat others with no respect, and finds it cool to rape or beat women. If I'm wrong for disliking them for that reason then more power to me.

Here in the Midwest it seems like they all have a switch to women attitude because a man did them wrong vs. I was just always gay. Its like a bad man with PMS!
Reply:I know several lesbians who don't hate men. They just prefer women for sex. There - you're wrong.
Don't let a couple of individuals represent the whole group.
Reply:Maybe you should find an office with straight people working in it.
How did you find a place where everyone is gay? Was there a big rainbow colored tooth on the door or something? Time to move along. Don't worry about the hang ups of others.
To answer your question, I know some very nice lesbians and they like me just fine.
Reply:Hell, it sounds like it should work out just fine, He, thinks he,s a Woman, and those Women think there a man, Yes there all hater,s........and Sicko,s to....
Reply:Actually prior to me hanging out with her, my lesbian hung out with exclusively straight men.. I think maybe you're generalizing a little to much. It would be like saying all gay men love Prada. :)

Reply:Rejected by a man or men in their past, and in their strange ways, they search for an alternative form of affection with other lesbians. So, they feel their prerogative is to spend their lives punishing men.
Reply:I personally don't hate straight men, and I identify as a lesbian. I don't hate any men whether they are straight or gay. In fact, I have quite a few friends who are straight men. We have a lot of things in common; we frequently talk about our tastes in women. I think it is a stereotype to say that any group of people hates another. It simply isn't true.
Reply:Wow what is to refute you made an exhaustive and detailed study of both the lesbian women and have drawn an irrefutable conclusion.
Reply:Well, first of all, I don't think it was impertinent that you insert their ethnicities. Seems a little racist to me, and I wish you could just describe them as women, versus blacks, whites, lesbians, etc.
But, have you considered your own interactions, how you treated them, how you came to find out their sexual orientation. You might have come off a little strongly, or made them uncomfortable. Consider whether or not this happened with anyone else, gay, straight, male, or female. Don't think about it too much, if you haven't let go of it at this point, then you're probably overestimating their suspicions of you.
I am gay, but I don't hate men. That's preposterous, I just can't imagine having sex with one.
Reply:You are soooooo totally wrong. I am a 42 yr. old straight woman and I have several gay friends and they are very sweet, I do work with a gay woman and at first she wasn't very nice to me then she changed and started talking to me about her life and now I consider her as a friend. Maybe it is the way that you act around people if you think or know that they are gay. I don't think that you were weird for asking the question she probably should have tried to explain to you why the second patient said that and no lesbians are not crazy and no the problem is not with gays or straight people. I am sorry that you have had this experience but I suggest that you look within for the answers as I have had good experiences with gay men and women. Good luck.
Reply:In any given group, you're going to find nutjobs and people who are more interested in expressing hatred than anything else.
This is as true of the gay community as any other.
Yes, there are some lesbians who hate men. I have a number of lesbian friends, and the topic of "Man haters" has come up now and then. Based on my conversations with these women, I'd say that lesbians who actively hate men are a small minority within the lesbian community. The most common response I've seen lesbians give on this topic is:
"Oh, I don't hate men. I just REALLY LOOOOVE women!" generally followed by an action expressing affection or lust towards their partner.
Don't judge an entire group by the actions or opinions of a few bad apples. You'll end up hating everyone.
Reply:I cannot answer for those who feel uncomfortable near adult males. Perhaps, though, they may have had an unfortunate experience with a man; this need not be confined to lesbians but can apply to all womanhood.
I do not hate all men. I respect and admire those in my family. Those I did hate were in my late partner's family for what they did to her. This hatred became self destructive and it was only after I learned to forgive them and myself that I began to recover.
This does not mean that I like the misinformed religious bigots.

Will the liberal media report this success in Iraq?
The struggle to form a unity government in Iraq continues, but signs of hope are emerging. One of the sticking points continues to be Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, who has so far refused to resign; however, on Sunday the Iraqi Shia Alliance reported it was close to a deal to replace him.
For a little perspective, travel back to the States, to the U.S. Senate and watch the immigration debate in the Senate. We've been doing democracy for several centuries now, and we can't get 100 politicians to agree on one issue. Considering we're the pros, we could cut the Iraqis a little slack as they continue to get the feel of this democracy-project thing.
There continues to be plenty of good news to be found in Iraq. The Iraqi army continues to take over responsibility for more battle space, al Qaeda continues to take a beating, and rebuilding of the country is progressing. Moreover, the Iraqi economy is improving, and has doubled in the last three years.
News for Pessimistic Generals
The media has given an enormous amount of publicity to former generals who are calling for Rumsfeld to resign, and all but ignore those who remain optimistic about our efforts in Iraq. Colonel William Grimsley commanded the brigade that first took control of Baghdad Airport. Three years on he remains optimistic about the country's future:
Grimsley, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division's 1st Combat Brigade Team during the opening days of Operation Iraqi Freedom, said history — not current events — will tell the true story of Iraq's metamorphosis.
And that story will show how Iraq ultimately emerged from almost 40 years of a regime that ignored the people's needs and undermined its potential, Grimsley, now a military assistant to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, said during an interview with American Forces Press Service and the Pentagon Channel.
Major Kevin Carter just returned from Iraq, and shares this assessment:
Charter believes not enough attention is being paid to the progress being made by Iraqis in taking control of their country. He said the people of Iraq are grateful Saddam Hussein has been overthrown.
"I was told by an Iraqi that only two things could get rid of Saddam, the United States or Allah. I will never forget that," Charter said. "An Iraqi officer told me that if we just up and left the country would implode. They are so grateful for us being there and toppling Saddam. Even the Sunnis, who benefited under Saddam, thanked us."
Before you think I'm just parroting the Pentagon line by quoting only officers, a Marine serving with an Iraqi unit had this to say:
"Everybody hears about all the car bombs in Baghdad and how many people got shot. Those things are reality — I don't want to downplay them. But there's a lot of good things happening," he said.
Despite being the main targets of terrorists and ex-Baathists, Iraqi soldiers remain well motivated:
According to the commanding officer of the local Iraqi-army unit here, the soldiers' motivation to fight insurgents is steady despite the loss of two of their own comrades. During a memorial service for a fallen soldier, the Iraqi commander of 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 7th Iraqi Army Division, assured his soldiers they were performing well and encouraged them to continue to listen and learn from the Marines.
"I want the soldiers to continue to do the job they are doing," said the commanding officer, who wishes to remain anonymous. "We need the Marines' support and they are very professional when it comes to training my soldiers."
A tip led U.S. troops to a house where forged documents were made:
The two suspected forgers were found at a house where Soldiers seized $2,050 in U.S. currency, more than 500,000 Iraqi Dinars, 125 various forms of identification, fake stamps for the IDs and an AK-47.
Another tip led U.S. troops to a weapons cache at a terrorist training facility:
Found at the site were 19 155 mm artillery rounds and 21 mortar rounds of various calibers.
The site may have been a training site of insurgents. The cache was transported to a secured location for controlled detonation.
320 Iraqis from Anbar Province arrived in Jordan to received training as police officers.
The Iraqi army continues to take over more battle space:
The 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Iraqi Army Division is assuming control of an area of responsibility that encompasses Balad, Al Duluyah and Yethrib, as well as the smaller villages surrounding these cities.
In addition to taking over battle space, Iraqis continue to take the lead in more security operations. Operation Cobra Strike was lead by soldiers of the 8th Iraqi Army Division. The operation was planned, and conducted by Iraqis, with U.S. soldiers in support.
Iraqi soldiers discovered four weapons caches during an operation in southern Baghdad:
In total, the four weapons caches consisted of seven RPG rounds, three machine guns, 28 70 mm mortar rounds, 38 60mm mortar rounds, landmines, a large bag of homemade explosives, a sniper rifle, grenades, 13 pre-made roadside-bombs, ten rockets, 403 linked rounds of small arms ammunition, three bags of linked ammunition and 5,000 rounds of sniper-rifle rounds.
139 Iraqi soldiers recently graduated from commando school, and are ready to fight:
"The Iraqi people are tired of the terrorists, extremists and instability and this unit fights that ... I am very proud that I am part of this special unit that will help stabilize this country," he said. "The terrorists have had their time. This is our time now."
39 of 45 planned border forts along the Iran-Iraq border are complete. The border posts are manned by Iraqis.
U.S. troops discovered several significant weapons caches on an island in the Euphrates River:
On April 5, Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, discovered 34 fused 82 mm rounds, five fused 120 mm rounds, 600 82 mm mortar rounds, 23 fused rocket-propelled grenades, five hand grenades, 28 55-gallon drums of TNT, nine 55-gallon sacks of nitrate, two bundles of detonation chord, a penetrator and 5,000 AK-47 rounds.
The next day, Soldiers gathered 1,500 meters of command wire, a mortar sight, a receiver, 54 82mm rounds and a 107mm rocket.
On April 7, MND-B Soldiers discovered the following items on the island: 1,450 18 mm anti-aircraft rounds, 27 125 mm aerial bombs, 30 anti-tank grenades, seven 60 mm mortars, five 82 mm mortars, 25 RPG rounds, 96 sticks of dynamite, 600 mortar primers, 156 hand grenades, three cylindrical containers, a RPG launcher, a rocket (caliber unknown), 37 boosters and a small mortar.
In Mosul, U.S. soldiers discovered a significant amount of materials used to make IEDs.
In Tikrit, a terrorist planting an IED was captured.
In Yusifiyah, several terrorist were killed or captured after their safe house was attacked:
During the assault, five terrorists, three of them wearing suicide vests, were killed; five others, one of whom was wounded, were detained. Two of the suicide bombers were killed before either could detonate his vest, and the third detonated his body bomb killing only himself and injuring no one else.
I mentioned Operation Cowpens last week. The operation ended Friday, and the tally of captured munitions is impressive
US forces killed five suspected insurgents and detained five others in a raid on a house southwest of Baghdad early Sunday in a hunt for an alleged Al Qaeda operative, the US military reported, according to AFP.
In another raid, a senior al Qaeda operative was killed. Abu Umar was the terror groups "ambassador," and was charged with forming relationships with other groups in Iraq. Umar was an associate of Osama bin Laden. More than 115 top al Qaeda operatives have been killed or captured in Iraq over the last few months.
Al Qaeda in Iraq continues to use unwilling people to carry out attacks. One attacker was identified by the fingerprints found on his hand, which was hand cuffed to the steering wheel of a car used as a bomb. It was the only part of him found.
U.S. military vehicles in Iraq will be getting a new anti-RPG system called Trophy from the Israelis [This item has been corrected since posting. — Ed.]:
The Trophy, unveiled by the IDF a year ago, combines two main systems: a radar built by Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd., detects threats; and a Rafael-designed system destroys incoming threats in flight. Rafael claims that the Trophy can protect armored fighting vehicles against all types of anti-tank rockets and missiles.
The two conceptual innovations incorporated into the Trophy are 360-degree protection of the tank or APC, which eliminates the need for adding armor plating, which can double a tank’s weight, restricting its mobility and maneuverability; and to provide protection from new threats from the side and top in low-intensity combat, compared with frontal threats of the past.
The State Department issued a report on Iraq's economy. Iraq's economy as nearly doubled in the last three years. GDP rose by 2.6% last year, and is expected to rise by more than ten percent in 2006.
A carpentry workshop funded by USAID is helping Iraqis earn a living:
The workshop focuses on fostering leadership, independence and financial stability among 18- to 24-year-olds. Profits from sale of furniture and doors made in the carpentry shop are reinvested in the youth center to purchase sports equipment, Internet access and secondary school supplies.
Three new power substations are now online in Najaf. At a cost of $4.8 million per substation, each should provide 25,000 households with electricity.
A ceremony in Baghdad marked the opening of a renovated youth center:
The Youth Center offers programs and training in weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, judo and soccer. During the tour, the guests viewed young Iraqi boxers sparring; wrestlers practicing takedowns; soccer players kicking goals; and weightlifters pumping iron.
The project was financed with funds from the 10th Mountain Division.
Everyday Americans are also helping out in Iraq. Frank Casa of Fairport, New York raised $25,000 to send wheel chairs to disabled residents of Hilla:
Casa has raised more than $25,000 to send desperately needed wheelchairs to Hilla, a city south of Baghdad, ravaged by the blasts of suicide attacks and car bombs. Later this year, he'll travel to Iraq to help distribute the wheelchairs.
"There are many, many civilians that are caught in desperate straits, that were caught up in this war, and they're strictly victims," Casa said. "Not to have mobility is like throwing fuel on the fire."

OUR HEROES
Petty Officer 2nd Class Juan M. Rubio will be awarded the Silver Star later this month for actions in Iraq:
On Jan. 1, 2005, Rubio's platoon was ambushed on the Euphrates River. The Marines left their boats and pursued the attackers, only to have an explosive set off nearby.
Rubio and three Marines were wounded. Despite having shrapnel wounds in his legs and arms, Rubio belly-crawled to the injured Marines and treated their injuries. He then dragged each of them across open terrain, under fire, to safety behind a wall.
He showed the uninjured Marines how to care for the wounded troops and then began directing covering fire while he helped take the wounded back to the boats.
"Your actions saved lives and you have set an example for future corpsmen and Marines to emulate," wrote Maj. Gen. R.F. Natonski, who wrote a letter endorsing the medal. "Your service is coveted by each and every Marine in the 1st Marine Division."
One Marine died that day, Lance Cpl. Brian Parrello. Rubio believes Parrello saved his life.
"He took a big chunk of artillery," Rubio said. "He absorbed 90 percent of the explosion for me. I owe my life to him."
Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin Jewett was awarded the Bronze Star for action in Iraq:
Jewett ran through a hail of gunfire and dragged the injured teammate 20 feet to the protection of a large vehicle, the citation says. He then administered first aid.
Under continuous attack, he supervised the evacuation of his wounded teammate. The Navy said Jewett's "courageous actions" saved his teammate's life.
Lance Corporal Carlos Gomez-Perez was awarded the Silver Star this week for his actions in Fallujah:
In the late morning, the platoon came under fire from machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades coming from three directions, according to a citation signed by Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter.
Gomez-Perez first made sure that several injured comrades received medical attention, then moved another downed Marine out of the line of fire, suffering wounds to his shoulder and face in the process.
"Despite his injuries, he again exposed himself to enemy fire and continued to attack the enemy with grenades and by firing his rifle with his uninjured arm," the citation states. "By his bold leadership, wise judgment and complete dedication to duty, Lance Corporal Gomez-Perez reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service."

The latest weekly reconstruction update is available here. Highlights include:
* A water system is under construction in Fallujah. When completed it will provide 200,000 residents with clean water.
* A firing range is under construction at the police academy in Hillah.
* Renovations are complete on the police station in Kadhimiya.
* The rehabilitation of a sewer pump station is complete in Mansour.

* 13 of 15 school projects are complete in Karbala.
* Construction of new classrooms is now complete in Mosul.
U.S. and Iraqi troops conducted a dental clinic in Amu Shabi:
A smile can light up one's face... and today, more than 200 Iraqis had a reason to smile.
Iraqi-army troops, along with U.S. Special Forces medics, Civil Affairs and 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division Soldiers, traveled to a school in Amu Shabi, Iraq, to provide a Dental Assessment and Care Clinic for local citizens.
A Scottish company has plans to build the first water park in Iraq. This story is pertinent because of the what the company's sales managers said:
International sales manager Jim Stuart said yesterday: "I am delighted to be involved in this project and it shows that rebuilding in Iraq really is happening."
Sadly, the newly elected Miss Iraq won't be attending the opening.
Norway's DNO will become the first Western company since the invasion to produce oil in Iraq next year. The company has discovered five oil reservoirs in northern Iraq.

Should I be worried?
I have been in an interracial relationship for the past year and I must admit that we are really happy. We don't get any backlash for being together except the occasional remarks from her father( he is a bigot but will never say it to my face). I am African-American and yes she is a Caucasian female. We completely bash the stereotypes of the interracial relationships. I am financially wealthy, well fit, and intelligent. She is in extremely good shape, intelligent and very beautiful. In a year we will both be attending the University of Texas. I will be obtaining my bachelors in Business Management and she will be getting hers in Dental Hygienist. The only problem with this relationship is that she only dates African-Americans, while I have no restrictions(we all bleed red).Sometimes I feel like she only loves me because of my skin. If I was white or of Latino origin, no way. I on the other hand would not care. Should I say something, leave it be, or just leave her? Please help!!
Should I be worried?
You think too much.
Ok, here's the thing. Sometimes people have preferences on whom they date. Just be happy her preference isn't that it's something to do with your wallet as opposed to your skin color.
If she only loved you because of your skin, she'd probably be getting some on the side from people with similar color. Get my meaning?
She loves you for who you are. She's just into darker meat. I wouldn't question why, it's just she is. It's like why do you like **** or ***? Seriously, are you dating her because she's well proportioned? Do you love her because she's fit? Or do you love her for a lot more things? The skin color is what got her to you... like a nice scent. It's who you are that snagged her. I wouldn't worry.
Ask yourself this... would you approach a woman that you're not attracted to? No? Ok... same point. You have preferences, just as she does.
Reply:damn always got to be something wrong with everything. At least she is dating someone out of her race and is opended minded about it. Instead of just not dating you at all.

The world at large?/ global problems?
You constantly hear about the problems around the world, famine, plague, aids, war, orphans, diease, corruption, refugees, and the list goes on. My questions is where does it stop? People look at the US and say we have the most and should give the most. We have problems here in our own country, aids, homeless, orphans, people devistated by natural disasters and many other things. An old saying used to be charity begins at home. I believe that once we solve our problems here then help. It may sound cold but in reality the US cannot solve all the problems, and fankly why should we. The US already pays out billions around the world and what do we get in return? I for one do not believe that our taxes are being spent right. As an example maybe america should look at immigrants here they receive low interest business loans, medical, dental, assistance in housing, education and many other benefits that your average american does not get. Let's focus on fixing what is wrong HERE
The world at large?/ global problems?
I agree. Besides most of the money we send overseas goes to the corrupt government leaders anyway. The needy seem to never get any or enough to help.
Our government knows this but continue to buy friends that turn to enemies anyway when they sponge all they can.
I think we need to foreclose on France, Germany, all the countries we gave LOANS to after WWII. None has ever been repaid in full.
Reply:The countries around the world that cry the most that the US doesn't do enough to help out the rest of the world, and always points to how much they help did not give us one red cent when Katrina hit. We could have used aid too. God forbid there is a natural disaster in africa, there will be US troops over there in a second, and countries like France and Germany will still say we arent doing enough.
Reply:Don't worry this whole attack on Iraq will completely be charged backed to them. in the middle east we call it legal thievery.

not be able to see the forest through the trees.
This is a common symptom, try to see it for what it is, and
of course through positive re-inforcement in attitude.
Poverty, diseases, unemployment, mental depression,
(mild or severe) attention deficit disorder(ADD) and other
afflictions that harrass man,as we will always be stuck with
them from generation to generation, the DNA scientists cant
breed those unpleasant genes out of our modules.
Look at the progress we have made in medical science alone,
heart and liver successful transplants, LASER eye surgery,
catarac removal, further treatment on macular degeneration,
some operations, highly successful.
Now I hear breakthroughs are being made with patients with
inoperable cancer, once thought terminal, now there is hope
for these patients, and more health breakthroughs are on the way.
On every front, if your talking progress, America has been in the ring swinging, and making them count.
We have many important people to thank for helping the rest of us live in a great life style, something that many other foreign
countries are so very much jealous of us, because of our high life styles.
Why is it, that so many foreign nationals want to come in and
live on US soil? They want the "good life" too, and our
government sets up educational, business, home low interest
loans to help the low wage earner "make it" until they get on their
feet, financially.
If you look at US history, we have had to fight every negative issue that has forced confrontation on us, and yet we still come
out on top, because you cannot stomp out a dream, or an ideal.
It will prevail, sooner or later.
Since the American Revolutionary War clear up to the 21st century, 231 years of charter, Americans have come together to
help fight and correct any wrong that should be righted,
paid the ultimate sacrifice, and led the way so following generations would have it easier, and lead a more enjoyable
life style, and their children to follow as well.
Americans are the most generous people on earth, they have constantly donated their time and money to help champion
causes some have considered to be lost or beyond hope.
They have served all over the globe in third world countries,
teaching their indigenous about how to grow fresh fruits and vegetables in arable soil, how to secure and sanitize their water
supplies, set up human waste disposal stations for real poverty-
stricken people, how to clean up their communities, to elimimate
all street garbage, get their rivers and streams back in clear
clean running order, and the volunteer men and women have
been teaching them basic education, learning about the
socialization of mankind, how to get along with each other,
mathematics, sciences hard and soft, English where applicable
and comparative religions, and other electives, if there is time.
Teaching the young men the building trades, and the women
textiles and fabrics, how to sew, make a dress, etc.
In short they teach them how to become self-reliant, self-sustaining, and then they can follow their dream, just like in the USofA.
Education is the key, always is, in my opinion.
Of course, the USA will have social problems, can't be totally
eliminated, but we can try to understand why and deal with that more effectively.
We are a nation of laws, and number close to 300 million people from different countries and all walks of life.
So there will always be a certain amount of social ailments, that
will never dry up and blow away.
Paying taxes? According to the OMB (Office of Management and
Budget) serves the US President, the war in Iraq has cost the average taxpayer collectively over 8 hundred billion $$$$ for
munitions and gun support, and over 3,000 KIAed of our
US military personnel(killed in action) and the President has asked the Congress for a plus up of five brigades of combat
soldiers (about 21,500)
What is the objective, Mr. President? What is your exit strategy, Mr. President?
He don't really know, and he listens to no one, we are stuck with
a one way communicator.
Yes, charity begins at home, but may only be a metaphor rather
than a straight statement.
Thats my message, good luck

some operations, highly successful.

What's Really for Dinner?
The Truth About Commercial Pet Food, by Tina Perry
Cow brains. Sheep guts. Chicken heads. Road kill. Rancid grain. These are a few of the so-called nutritionally balanced ingredients found in the commercial pet food served to companion animals every day.
More than 95 percent of US companion animals derive their nutritional needs from a single source: processed pet food. When people think of pet food, many envision whole chickens, choice cuts of beef, fresh grains, and all the nutrition that a dog or cat may ever need -- images that pet food manufacturers promote in their advertisements. What these companies do not reveal is that instead of whole chickens they have substituted chicken heads, feet, and intestines. Those choice cuts of beef are really cow brains, tongues, esophagi, fetal tissue dangerously high in hormones, and possibly diseased and even cancerous meat. Those whole grains have had the starch removed for corn starch powder and the oil extracted for corn oil, or they are hulls and other remnants from the milling process. Grains used that are truly whole have usually been deemed unfit for human consumption because of mold, contaminants, poor quality, or poor handling practices. Pet food is one of the world’s most synthetic edible products, containing virtually no whole ingredients.
Pet food manufacturers have become masters at inducing companion animals to eat things cat and dogs would normally spurn. Pet food scientists have learned that it's possible to take a mixture of inedible scraps, fortify it with artificial vitamins and minerals, preserve it so that it can sit on the shelf for more than a year, add dyes to make it attractive, and then extrude it into whimsical shapes that appeal to the human consumer. For this, pet food companies can expect to earn $9 billion in sales in 1996.
Scraps and Byproducts For years, many care givers have tried to avoid feeding their companion animals people food leftovers, having been warned by veterinarians about the heath problems they can cause. Yet much scrap material from the human food industry is ending up in dogs and cat’s dinner bowls. What the consumer purchases and what the manufacturer advertises are often two entirely different products, and this difference threatens the animals healthy, especially as they age. Learning to read ingredient labels and taking the time to read them carefully is crucial to making an educated choice when purchasing pet food. Ingredients are listed in descending order of weight (heaviest first) under standards established by the Center for Veterinary Medicine for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The name of the product (in most states) is dictated by the regulations of the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). The trouble is, AAFCO standards can lead to deceptive product names due to the weight and volume variations between wet and dry ingredients. Also, the average consumer has no idea what the definitions for the listed ingredients mean. Preservatives, vitamins, minerals, flavorings, and cereal make up most of what the companion animal eats.
It is not happenstance that four of the top five major pet food companies in the United States are subsidiaries of major multinational food production companies: Colgate Palmolive (which produces Hills Science Diet), Heinz, Nestle, and Mars )see The Corporate Connection). From a business standpoint, multi-national food companies owning pet food manufacturers is an ideal relationship. The multinationals have captive market in which to dump their waste products, and the pet food manufacturers have a direct source of bulk materials. Both make a profit from selling scraps that originate from places far worse than the dinner table. In his 1986 book Pet Allergies veterinarian Al Plechner sums up what goes into companion animals food: Condemned parts and animals rejected for human consumption are routinely rerouted for commercial pet foods. A similar fate applies to so-called 4-D animals. These are food animals picked up dead, or that are dying, diseased, or disabled, and do not meet human-food qualifications. They are processed straightaway for companion animal consumption. Little goes to waste. Says Plechner, Food processing refuse of all sorts winds up in your animals dinner bowls. Moldy grains. Rancid foods. Meat meal. The latter is ground-up slaughterhouse discards often containing disease-ridden tissue and high levels of hormones and pesticides, the very things that may have contributed to the death of the steer or hog. A decade later, his words still apply. When cattle, swine, chickens, lambs, or other animals meet their ends at a slaughterhouse, the choice cuts -- lean muscle tissue and organs prized by humans -- are trimmed away from the carcass for human consumption. Whatever remains of the carcass (bones, blood, pus, intestines, ligaments, subcutaneous fat, hooves, horns, beaks, and
any other parts not normally consumed by humans) is, according to the pet food industry, perfectly fit as a protein source for cat and dog food.
The Pet Food Institute, the trade association of pet food manufacturers, acknowledges in its 1994 Fact Sheet the importance of using byproducts in pet foods as additional income for processors and farmers. The purchase and use of these ingredients by the pet food industry not only provides nutritional foods for pets at reasonable costs, but provides an important source of income to American farmers and processors of meat, poultry, and seafood products for human consumption. Many of these remnants are indigestible and provide a questionable source of nutrition. The amount of nutrition provided by meat byproducts, meals, and digests varies from vat to vat of this animal protein soup. A vat filled with chicken feet, beaks, and viscera is going to make available a lower amount of protein than a vat of breast meat. James Morris and Quinton Rogers, professors with Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of California at Davis Veterinary School of Medicine, assert that there is virtually no information on the bio-availability of nutrients for companion animals in many of the common dietary ingredients used in pet foods. These ingredients are generally byproducts of the meat, poultry and fishing industries, with the potential for wide variation in nutrient composition. Claims of nutritional adequacy of pet foods based on the current AAFCO nutrient allowances (profiles) do not give assurances of nutritional adequacy and will not until ingredients are analyzed and bioavailability values are incorporated. Meat byproducts, the catch-all term of the pet food industry, is a misnomer because these byproducts contain little if any meat. Byproducts contain little if any meat. Byproduct are animal parts leftover after the meat has been stripped from the bone. Chicken byproducts include heads, feet, entrails, lungs, spleens, kidneys, brains, livers, stomachs, noses, blood, and intestines free of their contents. What the pet food manufactures fail to mention is that most byproducts, digests and meals are also filled with other substances, such as cancerous tissue cut from the carcass, plastic foam packaging containing spoiled meat from supermarkets, ear tags, spoiled slaughterhouse meat, road kill, and pieces of downer animals.
Canned Cannibalism Another source of meat that isn't mentioned on pet food labels is pet byproducts, the bodies of dogs and cats. In 1990 the San Francisco Chronicle reported that euthanized companion animals were found in pet foods. Although pet food company executives and the National Renderers Association vehemently denied the report, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the FDA confirmed the story. The pets serve a viable purpose by providing foodstuff for the animal feed chain, said Lea McGovern, chief of the FDA's animal feed safety branch. Because of the sheer volume of animals rendered and the similarity in protein content between poultry byproducts and processed dogs and cats, rendering plant workers say it would be impossible for purchasers to know the exact contents of what they buy. In fact, Sacramento Rendering cited by inspectors five times in the past two years for product-labeling violations.
Grease and Grain
The most nutritious dry pet food is no better than the worst if animals will not eat it. Pet food scientists have discovered that spraying the kibble or pellets with a combination of refined animal fat, lard, kitchen grease, and other oils too rancid or deemed inedible for humans makes an otherwise bland or distasteful product palatable. Animal fat is mainly packing house waste or supermarket trimmings from the packaging of meats. Animals love the taste of this sprayed fat, which also acts as a binding agent to which manufacturers may add other flavor enhancers. The pungent odor wafting from an open bag of pet food is created by this concoction. Restaurant grease has become a major component of feed-grade animal fat over the last 15 years. Often held in 50-gallon drums for weeks or months in extreme temperatures, this grease is usually kelp outside with no regard for its safety or further use. The rancid grease is then picked up by fat blenders who mix the animal and vegetable fats together, stabilize them with powerful antioxidants to prevent further spoilage, and then sell the blended products to pet food companies. Rancid, heavily preserved fats are extremely difficult to digest and can lead to a host of animal health problems, including digestive upsets, diarrhea, gas, and bad breath. Once considered filler by the pet food industry, the amount of grain products included in pet food has risen over the last decade as the American population has focused its attention away from consuming beef and toward a healthier diet of grains and vegetables. Commonly two of the top three pet food ingredients are some form of grain products. For instance, Alpo's Beef Flavored Dinner lists ground yellow corn, soybean meal, and poultry byproduct meal as its top three ingredients. 9 Lives Crunchy Meals lists ground yellow corn, corn gluten meal, and poultry byproduct meal as its top three ingredients. Of the top four ingredients of Purina's O.N.E. Dog Formula -- chicken, ground yellow corn, ground wheat, and corn gluten meal -- two are corn-based products from the same source. This is an industry practice known as splitting. When components of the same whole ingredient are listed separately (ground yellow corn and corn gluten meal) it appears that
there is less corn than chicken, even when the whole ingredient may weigh more than the chicken. Soy is another common ingredient in many pet foods. It is used by the manufacturers to boost the claimed protein content and add bulk so that when animals eat a product containing soy they will fell more sated. Tofu is suitable for humans, but most forms of soybean do not agree with a dog or cat's digestive system. Like many other pet food ingredients, soy is virtually unusable by an animal's body. Being obligate carnivores, cats have little ability to digest any nutrients from soy. The problem is worse for dogs because they lack the essential amino acid to digest soy products. Soy has also been linked to bloat and gas in many dogs.
Additives and Processing
Pet food industry critics note that many of the ingredients (such as corn syrup and corn gluten meal) used as humectants to prevent oxidation also bind water molecules in such a way that the food actually sticks to the animal's colon and may cause blockage. Blockage of the colon may cause an increased risk of cancer of the colon or rectum. Two-thirds of the pet food manufactured in the United States contains synthetic preservatives added by the manufacturer. Of the remaining third, 90 percent includes ingredients already stabilized by synthetic preservatives. Because most pet food contains large percentages of added fat, a stabilizer is needed to maintain the quality of the food. Sodium nitrite, often used as a coloring agent, fixative, and preservative, has the ability to combine with natural stomach and food chemicals (secondary amends) to create nitrosamines, powerful cancer-causing agents, according to A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives.
Many pet foods advertised as preservative-free do not contain preservatives. Almost all rendered meats have synthetic preservatives added as stabilizer, but manufacturers aren't required to list preservatives they themselves haven't added. Premixed vitamin additives can also contain preservatives. In the 1003 Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, veterinarian Philip Roudebush reported finding low concentrations of synthetic antioxidant preservatives in all analyzed samples of products labeled as chemical free or all-natural. Other types of additives depend on whether the pet food is semi-moist, dry or canned. Because semi-moist food contains 25-50 percent water, antimicrobial preservatives must be used. Propylene glycol was frequently used in cat food until it was pulled in 1992 for causing a variety of health problems. Processing greatly alters the nutritional value of the food ingredients. Veterinarian R. L. Wysong states in Rationale for Animal Nutrition: Processing is the wild card in nutritional value that is, by and large, simply ignored. Heating, freezing, dehydrating, canning, extruding, pelleting, baking and so forth, are so commonplace that they are simply thought of as synonymous with food itself. Because the ingredients that pet food companies use are not wholesome, and harsh manufacturing practices destroy what little nutritional value the food may have had in the first place, the final product must be fortified with vitamins and minerals.
Questionable Nutrition
How, then, can any pet food be guaranteed to be 100 percent complete or nutritionally adequate? As long as it meets the AAFCO minimum standards, such a guarantee can be on the label. Yet in 1994, feed tests conducted by the New York State Agriculture Department showed 7 percent of all pet foods analyzed failed chemical analyses for guaranteed nutrients. Other states report similar findings, with failure of analyzed feed ranging from to 12 percent. Even if a pet food meets AAFCO standards, certain nutritional requirements (for example, lysine) can vary between species by as much as seven-fold. Although manufacturers clam that millions of companion animals can thrive on a diet consisting of nothing by commercial pet food, research and an increasing number of veterinarians implicate processed pet food as a source of disease or as an exacerbating agent for a number of degenerative diseases. For example, kidney disease is on of the top three killers of companion animals. According to Plechner, the extra protein and harsh ingredients of many pet foods place an overload on the kidneys. Left untreated, the toxic buildup leads to vomiting, loss of appetite, uremic poisoning, and death. Wysong adds, In the last few years, large statistical studies have shown the link between the diet (of processed foods) and a variety of degenerative diseases, including cancer, heart disease, allergies, arthritis, obesity, dental disease, etc. After extensive research, the Animal Protection Institute (API) published a Pet Food Investigative Report to educate companion animal care givers about pet food ingredients, ingredient definitions, labeling, and dietary ailments resulting from processed commercial pet food, including the most commonly know brands. Yet, whether such food is purchased at the supermarket, pet store, or from a veterinarian, it makes little difference in terms of the quality -- only in the cost. Since the report was published earlier this year, API has conducted more research on holistic pet care and pet food alternatives, but still claims that the vast majority of pet foods available on the market today provide less that optimum nutrition for companion animals.
It is sad to think that the food provided by animal care givers to their four-legged friends could be hazardous to the animals'; health and longevity. Care givers should assume responsibility for providing as healthful a diet as possible for the animals in the care. Consumers should be informed: speak with a holistic practitioner or herbalist, or consult your veterinarian (but be aware that a veterinarian's knowledge of nutrition may be limited to the two weeks of nutrition he or she had veterinary school 20 years ago). Although the ideal solution would be for companion animals to be fed only wholesome homemade and/or vegetarian diets, this is not an optician for everyone -- the cost and time commitment is sometimes prohibitive. By taking more moderate steps, however, care givers can still greatly improve companion animals' diet and quality of life.
With all the recalls I thought I would share:?
Thanks for the research and letting others see it. Those who are new pet owners should know about it, if they don't already.
Reply:Thanks for posting. I only wish there were more people spreading the word...then perhaps we could have prevented all the tradgey from the pet food recall... Report It
Reply:thank for the information
Reply:Thanks for that info
Reply:I have seen this article and others similar to it on the web but never published in any recognized scientific or news journal and have never been able to find any source for the FDA references cited within. Also note that the most recent reference is 1996 - 11 years ago and much has changed in the pet food industry in that time as owners have been more concerned about what they feed their pets and the surge in superpremium foods on the market. I have no doubt that some pet foods are poor quality and that there have been violations of the law in some cases. The same is true of human food. There is also the assumption made that anything manufactured by a major company is automatically bad. The sources the author does quote that can be found are organizations of which she is strongly associated with (such as API) that share her view so this piece does not present a balanced discussion of the issue of pet food safety. It is propaganda spread by one organization.
I feed my animals high quality commercial products and they are very healthy. Problems occur in the food distribution system as evidenced by the recent recall and last year's spinach scare demonstrated, but when you try and feed millions of people and animals, such problems can and will occur. Articles like this intended to scare people rather than present a balanced view of the problems and what can be done to change them and do not help.
Reply:WOW! I had no idea that, this is what is really in dog food and cat food. Yuk!
What kind of cat food and dog food is safe to feed our animals?
Reply:My goodness! I just read the whole thing and I can't say that I am 100% shocked. In the big business, money is more important to the big executives then the pets. That is just sad. We used to feed my dog mostly home made meals, but then we just ran out of time to make it for him all the time, I think we should go back to doing that, now that I have read this article. Thank you for the info. It really put things into perspective. Pet food manufacturers are some cruel people.
Reply:Sorry I have to agree with Bozema on this one. This article is 11 years old and so much been done since this time. There are so many high grade dog foods out on the market now that have absolutely no involvement in any of the recalls. What a pet owner decides to feed their dog is up to them and what they can afford to pay for that feed.
I don't know what you hoped to gain by this printing ( information?) but at a time like this with so much fear about dog foods I think it was ill timed and unnecessary.
This is just my opinion.

Report It

How will this mother pay for her children's health care?
Father of 4 children, doing pretty well for himself, making over $70,000 per year abandons homemaker wife and 4 children 10, 8, 5 and 3 years old. She has been a homemaker all throughout the marriage.
She has gets a job at making $15,000 per year but does not get health insurance from employer and really cannot afford to buy insurance on her own.
Meanwhile her husband has disappeared and is paying no child support.
When the 4 children get sick, and when the mother gets sick, or if they want to have preventative routine healthcare and dental care, how will they get medical care....in your vision of how american health care.
Before you answer, please take into consideration that the 5 people in question, the mom and the 4 children did nothing wrong, and are actually victims, just like many other americans have not necessarily done anything wrong when their employers lay them off or other calamities occur.
How will this mother pay for her children's health care?
I was laid off from my job a few years ago and my wife made about $25,000 at her job. We had 4 children to feed, along with house payments, car payments (so she could get to work and I could go looking for work), and so on. We applied for, and got accepted to, Minnesota's U-Care program (the state's Medicaid program). We also received WIC to buy milk, cheese, cereal, etc.
Edit: There are programs available. They are administered by the states, and the mother would need to contact her state's Human Services Department (or whatever it is called in that state) to get information on how to get coverage. And yes, they do cover routine doctor visits, preventive care, and dental. In fact, it was better than the current insurance I now have through my employer.
Reply:It happens all the time. The government already has programs, such as WIC, to help single mothers. She also needs a better job and her ex hubby can be found if he is working.
Reply:Can you elaborate on "disappeared"? The mother should be able to get the police or a PI to track him down, and get him to pay child support. Every year it gets harder for deadbeat dads to operate in the US without paying child support. Now, you can't get a passport or a driver's license in most states if you aren't up to date. Unless he skipped the country, they will find him.
Reply:Under her circumstances she would qualify for what is already offered.
Medicare/Medicaid.
Reply:She fits the model to qualify for medical care for her children. But why is the father not responsible for their health care?
Reply:Crap happens, she can get aid from the state, all she has to do is look for it, it wont come to her.
Reply:They are eligible for WIC and welfare including medical care.
Reply:My first question is, why isn't she getting child support? If she was married to this man and can prove paternity, she has all the right to get money to support them.
Reply:Here's what I'd do...
1. Contact the appropriate local authorities and have my husbands wages garnished...when he eventually works...this is traced by his social security number.
2. Look to friends, family, the church, local charities, and EVEN THE DENTISTS AND HOSPITALS, who do pro-bono work in special situations (I know I do it).
3. I'd immediately look for a better paying job...if I don't have the skills for it now, I'd get them fast...I wouldn't sit as pity myself indefinitely...or hope that everyone will socialize medicine so my status can remain as it is.
Reply:They should hunt down the father and make him pay support and cover their health insurance just like they do in all states. There are ways to find him. SS#, Driver's license, etc. He needs to foot the bill. I'm sure they qualify for free care until that happens under medicaid.
Reply:She and her children qualify for medicaid as it is in place right now. She also has the legal rights to garnish his wages directly from his paycheck in order to get child support.
But she is not completely innocent. She did have sex and 4 children with a man who was capable of leaving his children in poverty. He obviously could not have shown any good moral standing during their relationship, but choose to reproduce with him anyway.
Reply:She should check with her state and see if they have a health care program for low income families. These plans are usually quite rich and extremely cheap.
Reply:I think that all deadbeat dads should have to have the words tattooed on their faces - that way, every woman that comes into contact with him knows what a loser she is.
But our system does have things in place to help people like this. WIC and Medicaid, and I'm sure her state probably has some programs, too.
The husband shouldn't be all *that* hard to track down - I know the state of Alaska helps track down deadbeat dads; they'll garnish his dividend checks and his pay checks to help the mom and the kids out.
I agree 100% that our system is broken - especially our health care system. I just don't think our federal government is properly equipped to run it - it's just too large of a bureaucracy.
Edit: I don't know how much more specific I could be. I have never had to deal with the system, so I can't tell you how she needs to navigate it. Nor do I know what state she's in, and what type of help they'll offer her.
Reply:APPARENTLY SOME ANSWERERS JUST DON'T GET IT
get a better job (This coming from someone who's party thinks the minimum wage is too high and has enabled corporations through-out the U S A to out-source)
I know several women that have been left without getting the court ordered child support, even when they know where they are, the courts are way too lax in enforcement of this.
Reply:They would get health care the same way my family got health care, until I got my act together and got education and a good job.
You go to the county medical center (Refereed to as the Emergency Room in the news media) and you get triage and your financial history checked then you see a doctor and get your prescription.
If you are in the military or use the VA it's the same thing just a different facility.
This is social medicine in America.
I've lived in poorer parts of the world and they think even this standard of health care is paradise.
Even the UK has a separate medical system for those who what to pay extra to jump ahead in line. Their doctors do national health care in the morning and for fee in the afternoons.
Reply:Depending on the state, she should qualify for either Medicaid or at least SCHIP for the kids. The local health department also will provide considerable preventive care. Most doctors provide some pro bono care, usually in the order of 10% of their practice, and her husband can't hide forever. It would be nice if we had some level of basic care available to all, but it seems we'll never be able to agree on what level that would be, so one has to game the system as best he can.
Reply:I would start by going to the Dept.of Families and Children,Tell them what happened and see if they will give them medicaid, foodstamps and some cash, She'll have to file an abandonment case against her husband so the state can go after him for child support. I hope she gets the help she needs and deserves,Lord knows their are plenty of lazy people out there getting help when they can get up and go to work!

Why are Europeans so quick to point out the faults in Americans?
OK, so the George W. Bush experiment isn't working out so well for us. We will just be feeding him bananas until the end of his term and then we will elect someone to fix his mishaps. And we get that there are some uneducated dummies traveling to Europe to show y'all how smart we really are. But are we really that bad? Tell me that the dialect of the Irish is so much better than that of the Americans. And tell me that the quality of driving, crime rate, dental hygiene and cost of living are so much better in England than here in America. We all have our faults, but you don't see Americans on this forum firing at Europe everyday unless fired upon first. Help me understand.
Why are Europeans so quick to point out the faults in Americans?
Well Europeans are generally more internationally focused than Americans, that you cannot deny. Hence we start discussions on America here. But it is not limited to that. You have to remember that you see the English speaking peoples of Europe on here, i.e. the Irish and English. So this America bashing is coming from two of your closest allies in Europe.
But we do point out our own faults to each other. You just dont see it. The English on this site for instance are very anti-EU. Unfortunately, since most of the other EU nations speak different languages they are going to get a very one sided argument.
Reply:Because they can see them more clearly than we can.

EU didnt want to go to war now but the US didnt listen and did it anyway. Do you know there is an INTERNATIONAL agreement saying that if EU or the US dont agree on some actions nobody should do it ?
The US act as if they are the owners of the world pretending to go out to bring peace to places that dont want it and most of the times because of the personal gain .Wars in Vietnam and Iraq shouldnt have ever happened. I must say though, that most of those things are not the Americans decision but the governement so even if some Americans dont agree on some actions the world judges them on what their government does and that is not fair. I have lived in the US for 4 years and i met wonderful people.I think the Americans in general are very friendly and caring but they need to get more information besides Fox news or WGN so that they would have an idea of whats out there besides what their Government tells them.
So the bottom line is I like the Americans but unfortuntately because of their govenrment actions they get the bad fame too.Italy too for example it is known for mafia and spaghetti and stuff but it is much different.
It is the people who dont try to know Americans better that are at fault if they judge them by the government actions. There are very good hearted people in that Country and i think that if somebody took the time to get to know them better, they would realize it too.The US citizens should be less isolated and try to listen to more international tv station or read international news papers ,travel internationally more, try to undestand somebody else point of view too before taking a side.
Same things for every Coutry though. It is never good to listen to just one side.
Reply:Isn't it because of your invasion to Irak that the rest of the world has to pay the price for higher gasoline! And how about the Kyoto agreement you never signed! And then you think you are the ruler of this planet and all the other people are treated like trash! That's why!
Reply:The Europeans are so quick to point out the faults in Americans because it provides them with an excuse to ignore their own. They were responsible for the Holocaust and **** like that. That alone outweighs any faults they could find with us.
Reply:ok im british and from what im reading here americans appear 2 b very big headed dont ya think, u rekon u got it all.
dental hygiene is fine so shove that theory up ur as$, most people have straight teeth except prince charles, your crime rates higher cuz u got more ghettos, driving here is wiked we get to drive on the left, and you fat- as$ed americans are ripping us off so we have 2 pay more for (petrol)gas, cuz u use up the worlds resources, oh and u cant tell the differnece between an ape and a person.
sorry the stuff i said is really mean, i dont mean it 2 all americans but i do mean it 2 u
Reply:Dental hygiene is SOOO much better in the US than in england or any other country for that matter. Europeans are kinda snotty. But dont worry they all still smoke so they will die off soon.

I Bet That You Drink Fluoride Everyday, Do You Know It's Poison?
My Community drinks it.-Some bottlers such as Dannon have begun adding fluoride to their water.
According to a 2002 study,67% of Americans were living in communities with fluoridated water.
Many mistake Fluoridation of water as a dental precaution. Studies show that if Fluoride does not touch your teeth, it will have no effect on your dental health. So why drink Fluoride?
The first occurrence of fluoridated drinking water was in German Nazi prison camps. They found that mass-medicating water with fluoride was a way to "sterilize humans and force them into a into a calm submission.”
"I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs. Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis. Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable."

Reply:Fluoride containing compounds are added to toothpaste, drinking water, prescribed treatments, and other commercially available oral hygiene products because fluoride proponents believe they help strengthen the tooth enamel. Sodium fluoride and sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP, SMFP) are common additives.
Many local water municipalities fluoridate their water supplies by adding fluoride in concentrations of less than 4 ppm. Originally, sodium fluoride was used to fluoridate water; however, hexafluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) and its salt (Na2SiF6) are more commonly used, especially in the United States.
Fluoride ion has a very significant use in synthetic organic chemistry. The silicon-fluorine chemical bond is quite strong. Silyl ether protecting groups can be easily removed by the addition of fluoride ion. Sodium fluoride or tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (TBAF) are the most common reagents used.
Low concentrations
Fluoride is best known for its use in small quantities in an attempt to help reduce dental caries (cavity) frequency in teeth. Some studies suggests that fluoridation is associated with a median decline in the number of children with caries of 12.5%, and a median decline of 2.25 teeth with caries.

Oh dear, I just remembered - Oxygen is also a poison! In sufficient quantities in the blood stream, it turns the PH of the blood acidic, and causes decay of the linings of the arteries.
I suggest you stop your oxygen intake immediately!

Reply:Almost any substance is toxic in large quantities. When i drink water, the water touches my teeth; I don't know why yours doesn't. If fluoridated water sterilizes people why isn't the birth rate significantly lower in areas with fluoride in the water? I haven't noticed an increase in "calm submission" either. In fact, fluoridation opponents claim the violent crime rate is 56% HIGHER in fluoridated communities.
I'm not convinced fluoridation is effective in preventing tooth decay but I think the opponents overstate the dangers. They need to actually prove the claims and not depend on old quotes or depend on conflicting arguments. I don't think fluoride should be added to water that it isn't already but I don't think we need to worry much about it if we do drink some with fluoride.

Reply:In the mid 1900's, dentists believed that ingested fluoride incorporated into developing teeth to resist tooth decay. However, modern science proved that theory wrong. Fluoride incorporates into enamel by topical means alone.
Old time dentists also believed (some still do) fluoride was a nutrient and required for healthy teeth; but again science shows us that's wrong too.
Some say the amount of ingested fluoride that emerges from saliva to bathe teeth is the topical way fluoridation can reduce cavities. But the U.S. Centers For Disease Control tells us the amount of fluoride in saliva is way too low to have any beneficial effects.
Fluoridation is a failed concept that organized dentistry just isn't willing to part with.

Why do people from the "Old World" APPEASE Terrorism?
This article is intended to be directed toward spinless Europeans and NOT the Brave one's that have, unfortunately, caught a bad name for living on the same land-mass as these morally and intelligently weak individuals. This in particular is NOT directed toward Great Britain (our greatest ally despite the BBC)..
So my question...ah...how do you explain this cowardice and lack of conviction in a just and nobal cause: DEFEATING TERRORISM
I always knew it was, but it took a GERMAN (if you can imagine that..lol) to illustrate this FACT...This is the TRUEST thing you will ever read about the European's method of foreign/world policy.........All I can say is...Thank God for America...and the United Kingdom...(whom is far closer to America than she is Europe)...
(Commentary by Mathias Dapfner CEO, Axel Springer, AG)
A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Weltam Sonntag, "Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true.
Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives as England and France, allies at the time, negotiated and hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be fought, not bound to toothless agreements.
Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern Europe where for decades, inhuman suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as the ideologically correct alternative to all other possibilities.
Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran rampant in Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were still debating when finally the Americans had to come from halfway around the world, into Europe yet again, and do our work for us.
Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle East, European appeasement, camouflaged behind the fuzzy word quidistance,"now countenances suicide bombings in Israel by fundamentalist Palestinians.
Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush... Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program. And now we are faced with a particularly grotesque form! of appeasement. How is Germany reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere? By suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?
I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial fraction of our (German) Government, and if the polls are to be believed, the German people, actually believe that creating an Official State "Muslim Holiday" will somehow spare us from the wrath of the fanatical Islamists. One cannot help but recall Britain's Neville Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed by Adolph Hitler, and declaring European "Peace in our time". What else has to happen before the European public and its political leadership get it? There is a sort of crusade underway, an especially perfidious crusade consisting of systematic attacks by fanatic Muslims, focused on civilians, directed against our free, open Western societies, and intent upon Western Civilization's utter destruction. It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than any of t he great military conflicts of the last century - a conflict conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness.
Only two recent American Presidents had the courage needed for anti-appeasement: Reagan and Bush.
His American critics may quibble over the details, but we Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand: Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery. And Bush, supported only by the Social Democrat Blair, acting on moral conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against democracy. His place in history will have to be evaluated after a number of years have passed. In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural corner, instead of defending liberal society's values! and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China.
On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves, in contrast to those arrogant Americans", as the World Champions of "tolerance", which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto Schily justifiably criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral? I fear it's more because we're so materialistic so devoid of a moral compass.
For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge amounts of additional national debt, and a massive and persistent burden on the American economy - because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake - literally everything.
While we criticize the "capitalistic robber barons" of America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. Stay out of it! It could get expensive! We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour workweek or our dental cover! age, or our 4 weeks of paid vacation... Or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to "reach out to terrorists. To understand and forgive".
These days, Europe reminds me of an old woman who, with shaking hands, frantically hides her last pieces of jewelry when she notices a robber breaking into a neighbor's house.
Appeasement? Europe, thy name is Cowardice.

Why do people from the "Old World" APPEASE Terrorism?
America's view on bravery is, if your neighbour on your right gives you sh1t but he is too big then go to your smaller neighbour to your left and beat him up.
Iraq was never a threat to the USA and was never in cahoot's with Ben Laden but at present the body bag count is fast approaching that of Saddam's. Well done, only cowards bomb people from 10 miles up where you can't be seen.
You were sent home from Vietnam with your tail between your legs. MARK MY WORDS YOU WILL CRAWL OUT OF IRAQ WHEN YOU CAN'T FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED.
The difference is that we do put our will on the rest of the world or lock up people for years without a trial. Though Blair is taking lessons From Bush now.
Most Americans would not even find Iraq on a map.
As far as saving our butts in 2 world wars it must have taken some special bravery to come into the ring when the two fighters were on the ground after several years.
