Why is everyone so stupid here? Is it because they are mind controlled?

ELF towers? Nano-Technology? Subliminal advertising?

Implanted chips in vaccines as a child? FDA/ CIA/ in the water, flouride, dental work? Implants? Look at people, Americans why are they so stupid? Paint themselves green for St. Patricks day, put presents under a dead tree, teach the Easter Bunny and these lies to their children so they can do the same thing, watch morons play sports who make millions of dollars support it, then complain about it, find lights, festivals and stupidity entertainining such as Casinos and Gambling,( so moronic they actually watch this on television) yet can't see the beauty in a flower? Could we all be programmed like computers a rat in a wheel told what to do? ELF towers?

Why is everyone so stupid here? Is it because they are mind controlled?
Hi None,

How did T.S. Eliot describe it...

"Distracted from distraction by distraction."

There's a wonderful old book you should read by the American Journalist and media analyst, Neil Postman. It's called, "Amusing Ourselves to Death."

As I say, it's a bit old (published in the mid 80s as I recall), but its message is as trenchant today as the day it was written.
Reply:There's also a great album in the same vein by Roger Waters. I wouldn't be surprised if they were intimately related. "Amused To Death" is the name of the album. Report It

Reply:I've never actually thought of it like that before but now reading someone else saying all this. it's true we are just a rat in a wheel being told what to do by the world
Reply:I'm no defender of the 'American culture'... unfortunately Americans is not the only nation that lives like that...
Reply:"Stupid is as stupid does, Sir"....--Forrest Gump
Reply:Not all Americans live like that. Regional differences are apparent in America, some seperate Americans culturally quite strikingly; take Texas vrs. California. People in Florida don't do the same things as people in Alaska or even Wisconsin.

Even within states people act differently in different places, rural town dwellers live differently than city dwellers. Neither lives in quite the same matter as people living in suburbs. You can find totally different local cultures living within a 30 mile radius, this is apparent in my home town which is strikingly different compared to towns less than ten miles away.

I don't know anyone who painted themselves for St. Patrick's day, talk about a mockery of a saint's feast day. The idea of the Easter bunny confuses me, and will agree it is dumb. Few people in my area are bored enough to watch gambling on televison, although some are stupid enough to go to casinos.

The Christmas tree traditon is centuries old and has its roots with the Pennsylvania dutch, at least its roots here. The gift giving goes back to a tradition of remembering the gifts of the three wise men. These traditions are far older than the CIA or nearly all of the technologies you mentioned. Christmas lights can be used to produce beutiful works of art, and are a welcoming sight in the dark early stages of winter.

People have always, as far as we can tell, delighted in public celebrations and festivals. Every culture has them, American isn't alone. Fireworks, what I think is meant by lights, were popularized by Louis XIV and were used throughout Europe and ultimately in the US of A.

I would rather participate in a sport than watch it. It is fun to watch truely talented individuals and it is fun to follow the teams. I don't complain about sports, I find that behavior to be stupid. It is outrageous what these athletes are paid, and what they can get away with; I get hefty jail time for clubbing someone with a hockey stick, not to mention steroids which would get average joe jail time for buying illegally, but it is okay that athletes only get laid off without pay.

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but the additives in the water must have some effect of its consumers. I really don't believe any thing else you listed is at all feasible in a real world situation, nor is it even necessary to contrl people. Don't be so paranoid, and remember not everyone is the same.
Reply:How is this a History question? This is more of a culture or sociology question. Also I seen a lot of Europeans go nuts from a soccer game. Hey, did two Latin American countries gone to war after a soccer game. I have not herd of the US going to war after any sports game.
Reply:Sorry to have to say so, dude, but YOU are the moron, not those of us who cherish traditions and enjoy life to its fullest. You must be very miserable and angry. Try to find out why and deal with it. I feel really sorry for you. Poor thing.

Chow!!
Reply:I agree that there is more to life than many of the things you have mentioned, but it isn't stupidity, it is life.

You endure the humdrum of city life to enjoy your leisure. If the beauty of a flower appeals to you good luck.

I would prefer a weekend camping and fishing.
Reply:I'M SORRY!! I'M NOT PROGRAMMED TO RESPOND IN THAT AREA!! PLEASE REPHRASE THE QUESTION AND RESUBMIT IT IN TRIPLICATE!!
