My American friends?

How much do you pay for a decent health insurance scheme?

How much do you pay for a really good health insurance scheme including dental(per month)?

Do employers offer you this as a perk of the job?

My American friends?
Only about half of american employers offer health insurance. Almost all the big companies do, but the small employers (under 10 employees) don't. Most americans are employed by small employers.

If you are employed by a mid to large size company that does offer medical, usually they pay about 80% of the overall cost, and you pay about 20% of the overall cost.

In terms of overall cost, it is between $500-$800 per month per employee. Multiply that ROUGHLY by 20% to figure how much you'll pay.

But ps...there is HUGE variation in this.
Reply:what is the purpose of this qeustion..illegal immigrants raise the health care costs everyday by getting free health care...trust me...i work at hospital.
Reply:If I had it I would have to pay $330.00 a month for something I never use. That does not include the deductible or co-pays. I don't know what my employer would contribute. It depends a lot upon age (the cost). They may list it as a benefit but I think they pass the premium cost on to the employee.
Reply:No dental, but my insurance is about 125 bucks a month.
Reply:i pay 86 dollars a month for medical and vision, no dental. you do best if you can find a company that will give their employees benefits. Some do some don't you just have to ask.
Reply:my husband is retired military.. we have tri care prime.. we have very very very low insurance costs... our prescriptions when we need them are usually filled at the pharmacy on base......
Reply:I've seen it be as cheap as free or a couple hundred dollars a month when the employer is paying. This is one perk they offer to work w/them instead of on your own. Dental should be less than $10/month, also offered as a perk by employers. You can get insurance on your own if you have your own business. If you are self-employed, you can get your own insurance under "small business" assuming you meet a few minor criteria. Bottom line is, you just shouldn't go w/o insurance! You could be hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt w/one surgery or one bad accident w/no insurance to cover it. Good luck!
Reply:Depends on the employer.

Most offer it as a benefit of the job. many people will not take a position that does not offer decent health insurance. Many employers are shifting the cost of health care to the worker making it much less of a benefit.

As far as cost, it depends. If it is employer provided, you are in a pool with your fellow workers so most pre-existing condition clauses would not apply. Typically, the larger the company, the more risk to spread, the lower the premiums, but there are exceptions to this rule.

We should have universal health care for all citizens like every other civilized country on this world. Conservative whiners be damned.
Reply:i worked at one place that charged $150. a month for dental and $42. dollars a week for medical. to high for my blood, i couldn't afford it.
Reply:My employer takes about $45 US out of my pay each month for insurance. I am fully covered, including dental, vision, life, etc.

The company also provides each of us every year with a MasterCard, which has $1800. US on it. We can use this credit card for any health related purchases/doctor's visits. Whatever amount of money that is left on the credit card at the end of the year, rolls over to be added to the next $1800. I can even use this card to go to chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncturists.

To date (6 years), I've not spent any of my own money on health care.
Reply:A decent health insurance plan: family coverage $900.00 a month that is health only without eye or dental

Your employer normally splits the cost with you 80/20with the employee being responsible for 20% of the cost but not always. The portion your employer contributes to your healthcare premium is entirely up to your employer.

I do not have any idea about dental- it is not offered where I work.

Health insurance is considered a perk, along w/ paid vacation and sick days.
Reply:we call it insurance and it can vary from nothing ie many govts and big corporations you may pay less and the industry or biz you are in.

some pay and cover dental some do not some cover partial. not all employers offer ie small bis.

in cnd you must may for premiums now as well and it does not cover everything ie dental eyeglass and rx....

Reply:Private Health insurance is awful. Making people pay for what is a basic human right (medical care).

How do you put a price on human life?

Thank God for the NHS!!! The Americans can keep their "Health Insurance!!!"
Reply:why you care?
