Immigration Question: USA and Canada?

I am a New Zealander currently on a student visa in the US. I will be going on to OPT and eventually apply for a H-1B or permanent residency once I get an employment. I know how long the PR or H-1B visa process can take. I thought about applying for a Canadian PR from the US (on my current student status) and have the option of moving to Canada once my OPT runs out (June 2009).





1) How long does Canadian PR take?


2) Can you apply for H-1B and/or American PR simultaneously with the Canadian PR?





I will have graduated from an American dental school so I won't have a problem with licensure in Canada. Just wanted to hear what your thoughts were. Any advice? Of course, I will have to get a good immigration lawyer soon... Cheers.

Complete your education, keep trying for a job in US and H-1B. If don't get a job in US, go back home, spend some time with family and friends and get at least one year experience. Apply for immigration to Canada.
