WHY has the American Dental Association been allowed to poison us with mercury in fillings?

If you can't beat them, join them. If you can't join them, bribe them. If you can't bribe them, blackmail them! (Always works for me).

WHY has the American Dental Association been allowed to poison us with mercury in fillings?
This is a scam. Mercury in fillings is NOT dangerous.
Reply:Because the are part of the American Mercury group, a group that sells mercury.

Don't believe everything you read. Mercury has not been shown to be harmful in tooth fillings. Don't believe what the company selling the more expensive fillings are trying to sell you. Everyone has an angle on what they are selling including 'natural' health providers.
Reply:Unethical practicioners and scam artists make a fortune selling "alternative" procedures and in some cases have greatly harmed patients by removing perfectly stable amalgam fillings.

If the small amount of mercury found in amalgam material was "poison", there wouldn't be a dentist alive over the age of 40.

It is unconscionalbe to feed on people's fears.

Dental Sealant Release

Is Bisphenol A Released from Dental Composites and Sealants?

Several researchers have studied whether BPA leaches from cured dental composites or sealants. In 1996, Nicolas Olea and coworkers at the University of Granada (Spain) and Tufts University in Boston, MA applied a commercially available sealant to twelve molars each of eighteen men and women, using about 50 mg of sealant per person. Saliva samples were collected one hour prior to and one hour after application. After treatment, all saliva samples were reported to contain BPA in amounts ranging from 90 to 931 µg (3.3 to 30 ppm). (Olea et al, 1996)

Small amounts of BPA may leach from dental sealants immediately after application of the sealants to teeth. No BPA has been detected in blood samples, indicating that there is no detectable systemic exposure to BPA from dental sealants.

The source of BPA that leaches from dental sealants is likely to be from hydrolysis of bis-DMA, a common monomer used in dental resin formulations.

When evaluated as an acute exposure event, the highest level of BPA reported in saliva from dental sealants is more than 50,000 times lower than the LD50 values that have been reported for BPA.

Although BPA exposure from dental sealants does not occur daily throughout a lifetime, the highest level of BPA reported is also below the maximum acceptable or "reference" dose for BPA of 0.05 mg/kg body weight/day.

Reply:Well people can say mercury posioning is a scam but i beg to differ. Well i used to be very healthy before i became a dental assistant. I was exposed to a lot of mercury and i was okay for a while then i started to feel very sick. I was constantly dizzy, weak, then anxiety and panic began, rashes, photophobia, ect. I didn't know why i was getting so sick and doctors didn't either. Well i got so bad that i could barely walk, i quit because i just had no energy. I've been unemployed and not getting a penny from the government because there is no proof that i got like this because of mercury. I've learned to study and look into a lot of things, i'm taking my time and trying to get better. It's been a long and slow recovery but i gotta do whats neccesary to get back to the way i used to be.

I wasn't allowed to throw away mercury into the trash at work, because it was toxic to the enviroment. But we were allowed to place it into patients mouths. Figure that!

I don't know why the dental association is so blind and close minded. Maybe one day they'll open there eyes, hopefully it won't be too late.
